The Completed Upstairs Exhibits
We are thrilled to announce that our upstairs renovations are officially complete! Visitors can now walk through a series of masterfully restored, immersive spaces that showcase medical history from the late 1800s through the early 1900s.
Our second-floor features look exactly as they did a century ago, displaying authentic tools, rare specimens, and historical layouts across:
- The Pioneer Doctor’s Office & Private Study
- The Historic Dentist’s Office (featuring our newly added antique dental chairs)
- The Vintage Veterinary Office
- The Turn-of-the-Century Medical Laboratory
- Historic Artifacts: Don't miss our incredible, authentic Civil War operating table now permanently on display upstairs!
The Upcoming Elevator Project
We are actively pushing forward to bring full, modern accessibility to our historic 1889 landmark! Our architectural plans are finalized, and our community fundraising campaign has officially reached its halfway mark!
100% of proceeds given to our building fund go directly toward constructing a full-service elevator. This addition will bridge the gap between our floors, allowing seniors, school field trips, and mobility-challenged visitors to easily explore our completed upstairs offices. Check out our Supporting the Museum page to learn how you can help us cross the finish line!
Preserving the Collections
The Pharmacy & Medical Museum of Texas houses thousands of diverse, rare, and unique artifacts dating back to the mid-1800s. Our foundational goal is to uncover the human stories behind every medical bottle, tool, and ledger, and share those discoveries with you.
- Starting Interactive QR Tech: We are currently implementing digital QR codes next to our primary exhibit displays. Soon, visitors will be able to simply scan a code with their smartphones to instantly unlock deeper historical records, curator notes, and archival photos!
