 Future Plans
Upstairs Renovation Process
Our Progress Upstairs

Upstairs

Future endeavours include renovating the upstairs. Future upstair exhibits will be a late 1800's Doctors Office, Dentist Office, Veterinary Office and Laboratory. Update: Renovations are coming along well. We hope to have part of the upstairs open to the public by December 2018. We are very excited about this. Update: December 2021, I suppose it's been awhile since my last update. As you can tell by the photos we have been busy. The last room that needs renovation is the Doctor's Study which now only needs the flooring installed, then we will be ready to complete that exhibit. The restroom will need the mirror installed and the commode. Next, we have an amazing Civil War operating table to move over and another dental chair. We are so close to being finished with the upstairs! Currently, we allow tours upstairs eventhough we are not 100% done with all the exhibits yet. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do!

Upcoming Polio Exhibit

Our biggest goal is to aquire an iron lung for a polio exhibit. If you happen to know someone that would be interested in donating an iron lung, please contact us 361-485-8090. Update: We now have an iron lung thanks to the generosity of TIRR Memorial Herman out of Houston, Texas and thanks to the Cuero Chapter of the Rotary Club paying for the shipping. Also, I would like to say thanks to the Museum Board for their time, patience, and never giving up on the hunt for an iron lung. Currently we are working on building an exhibit to educate the public about Polio. In the photo below, you see one of our docents, Annie Helmuth, inside the iron lung we have on display. Update: December 2021, we have a very nice Polio Exhibit downstairs. We wanted to keep it downstairs since we do not have an elevator install yet.

Upcoming Elevator

We are looking into elevator options and fundraising options to be able to provide one. Currently, donations go towards the elevator fund.

The Museum in General

The museum has countless diverse and unique artifacts dating back into the mid 1800's. It is our goal to learn the stories behind them and to share them with you. Soon we plan to add QR codes to help store the information we find and for our visitors to be able to access it.
